Live Travel Stories from Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia |
Susanne Pacher |
Travel and Transitions reporter explores Canadian West Coast. (PRWEB) August 24, 2005 -- www.travelandtransitions.com educates and encourages visitors with quality articles and interviews on how to explore new horizons, to get out there and discover the world - locally and abroad, to connect with people from different cultures and to open themselves up to new experiences. In addition to providing practical money-saving tips and destination information, this website intends to foster tolerance and understanding for people from other places and other cultures.
Travel and Transitions publisher Susanne Pacher recently travelled to British Columbia and explored the province's capital Victoria as well the BC's cosmopolitan centre Vancouver. While on the West Coast she had an opportunity to bike through Vancouver's Stanley Park and spend an afternoon on Grouse Mountain, the "Peak of Vancouver", exploring the entertaining Lumberjack Show and the Birds in Motion demonstration. Live travel stories from Victoria can be accessed at http://www.travelandtransitions.com/stories_photos/hello_victoria_1.htm while several Vancouver travel experiences can be found at http://www.travelandtransitions.com/stories_photos/hello_vancouver_1.htm.
This West Coast experience was capped off by a self-guided walking tour through the Downtown East Side. This area of Vancouver has been experiencing social and economic problems over a number of years, and the University of British Columbia's Learning Exchange provided a valuable briefing of the area, its history and characteristics. Tour participants also receive important safety guidelines before embarking in small groups of individuals on a first-hand discovery of the area. When visiting this area it becomes evident that the neighbourhood is much more diverse than anticipated, and that many community organizations and individuals are dedicating a great amount of time and effort to helping this community in need. A summary of the Downtown East Walking tour can be accessed at http://www.travelandtransitions.com/stories_photos/hello_vancouver_4.htm.
